The Chapel of the Finding of the Cross

The site from where Queen Helena discovered the True cross of Christ. As tradition claims, she discovered three crosses. To find which of the three crosses belonged to Christ, and which belonged to the thieves, a sick man was brought to touch each one in turn. He was miraculously healed by only one and this is the one that has since been distributed to all Christian Patriarchates across the world. Owned by the Catholics, whose altar features a life-sized statue of St. Helena holding a cross; Greek Orthodox also has a separate altar here. The statue of Queen Helen and the altar were gifted by Archduke Maximilian of Austria, the Emperor of Mexico.
