Also known as the Basilica of agony. In front of its altar there is a large fragment of rock on which Jesus is supposed to have prayed the night before the Passion. The Basilica of the Agony was built from 1919 to 1924 using funds from 12 different countries, hence known as the Church of All Nations. The Church of All Nations lies on the foundations of two earlier churches: a 12th-century Crusader chapel abandoned in 1345 and a 4th-century Byzantine basilica, destroyed by an earthquake in 746.
