The Lion's Gate

Also called as St. Stephen's Gate, Jordan Gate or Sheep Gate. The Lion's gate is so called because of a lion engraved on either side of the gate. It's used by Christians on Palm Sunday to enter the Via Dolorosa. It's also known as the sheep's gate, because in the days of the Solomon Temple, the sheep for sacrifice were brought to the Temple from this gate. It is also known as Saint Stephen's Gate, as according to tradition the first Christian martyr (St: Stephen) was stoned outside this gate. Bab el Ghor or Jordan Gate was so named by the Turks because it led to Jordan.
